Online Textbook

Welcome to COP 4834 - This course is taught at Daytona State College as part of the Information System program. The course is designed to give students a head start into the field of web server programming. This is a large and dynamic field with lots of tools. The course requires students to create real web applications, that will be available on a real web site that is freely accessible.

This is an online textbook to support this course and its students at DSC. Everything you need to be successful in this course is contained on this site. All assignments and bulletin board postings are submitted through Falcon Online.

Wiki Guide - All Students Read

The class management for these courses is wiki based. The classes are Assignment Based.

I constantly add information to help with the assignments so even if you have started with an assignment it is worthwhile to look at it on a regular basis.

You are graded on your ability to DO, not your ability to regurgitate information. I also do give credit to students who help me with more (useful) information for the class - this is called your contribution grade.

COP 4834 - Course Outcomes

  • C1 (PO2, PO3) - Ability to Design, Build, and Deploy a Database Driven Client-Server Web Application.
  • C2 (PO8, PO11)- Understanding of Software Development Requirements in the Dynamic Internet Environment.

There is NO textbook - we do make heavy use of the materials at Microsoft Virtual Academy

How the Class Works

This class is assignment based and you should start with the assignments.
